Knee Pain

Knee pain can present with impact activities such as running or jumping and with exercises that require a full range of motion such as squats or lunges. Common sites of knee pain are on the inside of the knee right at or below the joint line, just below the kneecap or across the joint line in the front. There are a variety of conditions that can cause pain around the knee including quadriceps tendinopathy, patellofemoral pain, illiotibial band syndrome, jumper’s knee, bursitis in addition to sprains of the collateral or cruciate ligaments or either meniscus.

After a proper evaluation by your Morton Grove chiropractor, Dr. Damir Simunac at Active Health Spine & Sport, treatment can consist of chiropractic adjustments to fixated joints at the tibiofemoral joint or the tibiofibular joint, the ankle or the many joints of the foot, myofascial release or soft tissue work on mechanical tension in the front thigh and quadriceps region, the hamstrings, the upper calf and the popliteus. Since the knee joint is a naturally very stable joint, relative motion and mobility of the hip (above) and ankle/foot (below) plays a crucial role in rehabilitation and corrective exercise management of knee pain.
